Johnson Screens Stainless Steel
Details
When you drill a water well, geothermal borehole or intake pipe, the one thing you cannot let in is sand. These johnson screens stainless steel well tubes wrap vee wire around longitudinal rods and weld every contact, leaving continuous slots from 0.05 to 30 mm. They hold sand back and let water through — that is the whole trick.

Description

Picture a triangular wire wound around a cage of rods, the rods themselves welded to end rings. That is how a johnson screens stainless steel barrel comes together. The slot gap is set by shims as the wire goes on, and stays the same along the whole tube. Because the wire is wedge shaped, the gap widens on the inside - so a sand grain that slips through does not wedge once the pump starts. The barrel stays pressure tight and will not collapse under well pressure. We ship tubes in 6 m joints, with smooth, burr-free welds that do not catch debris over a long well life.

Send us your slot, diameter and length drawing and we cut, wind and weld the johnson screens stainless steel to it. We send samples before a batch order, and each joint is tagged with its material and slot size. Spare centralizers ride along with the shipment.

FAQ

Q: Which slot do I choose for a sand well?

A: Pick it from a sieve analysis of your aquifer sand. As a rough start, we match the 10-percent retaining line of the grain curve.

Q: How do you join two screen joints?

A: Threaded couplings are standard above 168 mm outer diameter. For high-pressure lines we can do flanged or welded ends.

Q: Can the barrel take well pressure?

A: Yes. The rod cage and the welded johnson screens stainless steel barrel are sized for the static and collapse pressure your borehole depth calls for.
